Cameron Foster

cam_and__freddieAt the age of 9 Cameron Foster suffered an horrific skiing accident, breaking both of his legs, his arm and dislocating both ankles. In the years since his accident, the now 16 year old Cameron has been nothing short of a prolific fundraiser. Through walks, abseils, sponsored runs and even pantomimes the teenager has raised over £15,000 for various charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Derian House Hospice, Breast Cancer Research, Wigan disability sports forum, Sport Relief, and now he's turned his attention to Cricket Without Boundaries.

Having heard about CWB through local sports development officials, the Diana Award winner and Black Belt says Cricket Without Boundaries is exactly what he was looking for,

"CWB combines my two passions of cricket and helping others and I'm hoping to continue in the fight against HIV and AIDS after I get back.

"I'm not sure what to expect in Africa, but I've seen the pictures on CWB's website, I've read the reports and I've seen the videos and I'm expecting to see a lot of enthusiasm out there for cricket – a lot of love for the game."

An experienced fundraiser, Cameron has used tremendous ingenuity in raising over £1,000 for his trip. As well as an extremely generous contribution from his local Rotary club, the precocious young all-rounder approached a number of rubber band producers to ask for help in a special project. Adband.co.uk stepped up and donated 250 specially designed 'Cameron Foster CWB' wristbands to the cause which, with the aid of some aggressive tweeting, have made a real dent in Cameron's target.

There's no doubt that Cameron is a remarkable young man and a fantastic addition to the CWB family. He might be one of our youngest ever volunteers but there's absolutely nothing to stop him being one of our best.
