26th February - 14th MarchIn late February, six volunteers – a mixture of youth and experience – set off for Uganda on CWB’s third project in the country. The first destination was Jinja, on the shores of Lake Victoria for four days before the team moved up to Mbale where we were joined by Helen Whitehall for the remainder of the trip. A day and a night were spent in the Queen Elizabeth National Park before the team headed off to Fort Portal where the Rwenzori mountains make a spectacular backdrop. A total of 42 teachers and just under 1000 children (plus 165 returnee children for the festival day in Mbale) attended coaching sessions. The project finished with an AIDS awareness session for 8 of the Ugandan age group coaches. Thanks to all of the volunteers for their hard work, unfailing good humour and their enthusiasm with both the cricket coaching and the HIV/AIDS awareness delivery.
