Autumn projects ready to go
CWB has 3 projects ready to go this autumn to Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
The 1st team to depart will be the Rwanda team who depart on the 24th September, led by our Media and Communications Manager, Lee Booth. Also in the team will be Richard Thurston, our Recruitment Manager and the Rwanda Manager himself, Tim Marrion. The aim for this trip is to get out of the capital Kigali and do more work with the schools and universities in the rural regions. You can follow the Rwanda teams progress on their blog at www.cwbblogs.com/rwanda11
The Uganda team fly out on the 1st October and the team is an excellent mix of youth and experience. Richard Davies (CWB's most experienced tutor) makes another return to a country that he has been going to since 1992. Mike and Veronika Reeves are going out for the third time and hope to build on the excellent relationship that CWB have with the Uganda Cricket Association. The team will be visiting 3 new areas - Tororo, Iganga and Masindi. The new charity executive, Hannah Weaver is also on this trip and will gain valuable first hand experience of the HIV / AIDS messages as well as the cricket coaching to help her in her new role.
Kenya will benefit from a team of 8 volunteers from 22nd October to 5th November, led by Tracey Davies, Head of Cricket Development at Essex Cricket. The team includes 16 year old Cameron Foster who has raised over £15,000 for various charities in the past; former army officer Brain Robinson from St Osyth Cricket Club; and winner of the ICC Europe Young Coach of the Year 2010, Jamie Burton from Edinburgh. The team of volunteers are very excited about the trip, which will focus on Nakuru and Nanyki, areas that have previously received support from CWB , and cannot wait to help make a difference to the lives of those affected by AIDS in Kenya.
