Cricket for Dignified Menstruation final in Rajbiraj, Saptari District, Nepal
Inspired by Mithali Raj’s call to normalise menstruation, the girls from the Khadak Queens and Rajbiraj Champs have created a video to share three messages: menstruation is a natural process, you can play cricket during menstruation, and coaches can play a key role in supporting players when they are menstruating.
The players were participating in the final of the Cricket for Dignified Menstruation Triangular Series final in Rajbiraj, Saptari District, Nepal, on 8th December 2023 - with the Rajbiraj Champs emerging as winners, reaching their target in the 18th over, with 6 wickets still in hand.
Alongside the final there were play-based workshops and youth-led speeches and campaigns, with all attendees receiving a mini hamper of pads, soap and flannel as a handy take-away.
The high energy day left all in attendance motivated, inspired and encouraged to fight for dignified menstruation for all girls in Nepal and around the world.
The event was organised by Sabal Nepal, in collaboration with the Saptari Cricket Association. It was supported by cricket for development organisation Cricket Without Boundaries, with funding from the MCC Foundation.
